Manual for the administrative approach to organised crime

This manual is intended to inform local authorities about the purpose, structure and application of the administrative approach to organised crime.

Description

Drug dealing, illegal prostitution, organised cannabis cultivation, illegal car trade and money laundering are examples of illegal activities which can manifest everywhere. All Dutch municipalities have to cope with this sort of criminal activities. Local authorities have an important task within the administrative approach to organised crime.

To help the Dutch municipalities in implementing the administrative approach, the Dutch Centre for Crime Prevention and Safety has developed this manual. It describes the benefits and the need for the approach. It also describes the preconditions which are required to make the administrative approach a success.

The publication has been drawn up in close cooperation with the Regional Centres for Information en Expertise (RIECs). The Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations has commissioned these centres to support local authorities with the administrative approach, while the RIECs act as an information node and expertise centre to assist local authorities as well as other organisations involved in the administrative and integrated approach.
